About

Hello, my name is Cynthia and I have been a therapist for more than 20 years, working with clients of different ages, social backgrounds, religions, cultures, professions and clinical needs. Most recently, I worked in a DMH-contracted agency for children and teens and their families, most of whom are of low socio-economic means and some of whom are considered at-risk youths. I have also worked in private practice, which included providing therapeutic support to court-mandated individuals who are supervised by the Department of Corrections / Bureau of Prisons. There are so many different ways to live our lives and, without a doubt, we all want to have a good life. But life is unpredictable and it often challenges us to face negative situations and traumatic events that cause us sadness, a sense of loss and grief, anxiety and fear, believing we are not good enough, helplessness, hopelessness, feeling as if we do not belong anywhere, etc.. No matter what your struggles are, it is paramount that you are able to flex and bounce back. In therapy, we can collaborate in identifying your faulty cognitions and beliefs that inhibit you from seeing the bigger picture and that can almost always lead to poor choices, a misguided perspective and a general sense of unhappiness. We will work together to improve your coping skills and develop a healthier sense of self and a more productive response to the bumps on the road in your life. Like many therapists, my clinical style usually incorporates an eclectic approach that includes CBT, Solution-Focused, Family Systems, to name a few. My clinical experiences are diverse and include treating clients with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, bipolar disorder, impulse control difficulties and other mental health conditions. The majority of them have a history of abuse in its different forms, violence, substance and alcohol problems, trauma, acculturation issues as well as dysfunctional relationships. I enjoy working with individuals. Therapeutic Paradigms:Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative, Solution-Focused, Trauma Informed
